The chisel that once
carved for the Emperor.
My grandfather’s hands carved a tribute for the Emperor of Japan. Three generations later, those same techniques live on in mine."
Founded in 1935 by the first-generation master Ijiri Suiun — a legendary carver entrusted with presentation pieces for the Imperial Household, and chief carver for some of Kansai’s most prestigious danjiri festival floats.
The “Suiun-bori” tradition passed through the second generation to today’s master, Kazushige Ijiri — a government-certified Traditional Craftsman (No. 507210) of Hikone Butsudan, carrying ninety years of lineage into the present.
